Avalanche fans that have been hoping they haven't seen the last of their beloved captain Joe Sakic have gotten their wish!

The team announced today they have signed Sakic for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. With the Democratic National Convention in town, there won't be a press conference until next Tuesday.

Best wishes to Joe on a great 20th season!

Good for Joe and good for hockey and good for the Avs. Bad for the rest of the NW lol. I am happy to see such a class act decide to carry it on and I wouldn't at all be surprised if he plays next year too in order to carry into the Olympics.

Very happy to see him returning.
