Default Avs' 2001 Season Profiled on FSN on Thursday

FSN ROCKY MOUNTAIN TO PROFILE 2001 COLORADO AVALANCHE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON THURS., JAN. 10

FSN Rocky Mountain will focus on the Colorado Avalanche’s 2001 Stanley Cup Championship season as its second feature from the TOP 10 COLORADO SPORTS STORIES series that aired on the network in the spring of 2007. The half-hour TOP 10 COLORADO SPORTS STORIES: AVS 2001 show debuts Thurs., Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. MT. Replays of the show are scheduled for Fri., Jan. 11 at 6:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sun., Jan. 13 at 10:00 p.m.

Hosted by Drew Goodman, TOP 10 COLORADO SPORTS STORIES: AVS 2001 commemorates Colorado’s second Stanley Cup Championship with those who were part of the program.

Current Avalanche center Joe Sakic, former Avs goalie Patrick Roy, former Avs defenseman Ray Bourque and former Avs coach Bob Hartley talk about one of the best seasons the team has ever had. A key to the Avs run for the Stanley Cup was their acquisition of Bourque in March 2000. Bourque reflects back on his decision to join Colorado to do something he had not done in his prior 21 seasons as a Boston Bruin – win a championship.

Goodman, Fox 31 news anchor Ron Zappolo and Rocky Mountain News sports columnist Dave Krieger discuss the significance of the trade that landed Bourque on the Avs roster, as well as the Avs defeating the Los Angeles Kings in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.

FSN Rocky Mountain will look back on the University of Colorado football team’s 1990 National Championship season, Wed., Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. MT. Throughout January and February, the network will feature, the Denver Broncos first Super Bowl appearance in 1977, the Broncos’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998, “The Drive” in 1987 that helped the Broncos beat Cleveland in the AFC Championship game and the Colorado Rockies’ first season in 1993 as part of the TOP 10 COLORADO SPORTS STORIES series.
