I had the pleasure of attending the Avs game tonight and boy let me tell you was it awesome. Svatos and Hlinka played hard, Sakic and Smyth finally got their first goals and you are all right Statsny is on another level. I was impressed by Leopold he finally seems to be the defensemen we thought we got. I am very excited to see what this team can do.

You know, going back to the goalie situation here. For a while Colorado is going to be playing offensively, and winning games do to high scores. We may have beefed up on defence, but Budaj is a strong pressure goalie. Unless something big is riding on the game, Budjs will only hold up for a bit. We need to find a goalie who is generaly good throughout the season, but when it comes time for the important games, we can have Budjs play for us.

That article Phish posted better be American.
Great game. I love Sakic, and he will hopefully pass Yzerman, or at least finish close. I am impressed at how well he is doing and how effective the guy is at 38. He is showing no signs of slowing down at all.
Stasny is a great player. Keep it up.

Fire, meet fuel:

Karlis Skrastins did not play Sunday night for the Avalanche, which would lead fans to naturally suspect he was hurt. He was not.
Skrastins was a healthy scratch for the first time in his Avs career, an obvious sign his play through the first two games didn't thrill coach Joel Quenneville. His spot in the lineup was taken by Jeff Finger.
Skrastins was even in the first two games, but averaged 15:42 of playing time - down from his 21:13 average of last season.
"Really, it was more of a case of wanting to get (Finger) in the lineup," Quenneville said. "I thought he played very well."
Asked whether it creates a problem finding playing time for Skrastins or any other depth defenseman, Quenneville said: "Those are problems you like to have."

I doubt Skrastins is going anywhere, but speculate away.

How is it humanly possible that Legace always play so great against Colorado? Flaming hell...
Quote:
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Manny Legace gets up emotionally every time he faces the Colorado Avalanche and it shows in his record.
The St. Louis goalie made 24 saves to help the Blues to a 4-1 victory over Colorado on Friday night. That improved Legace's career mark against the Avalanche to 12-1 and his goals-against average to 1.85.

Not the best game by the Avs. Stastny played great again, Svatos showed some good hustle (hope he's put with Bruno and Joe soon). Theodore's still nothing to write home about, Arnason and Clark are human pylons, Smyth has yet to show us why he's getting paid $8 million. If Colorado can't get at least a point out of Columbus tomorrow, I think a mini-shakeup is in order. I can name three or four players who might use a ride on the pine.

Wouldn't be Avs season if I'm not having a heartattack every other game.

True.
Theodore played surprisingly well against the flames.
