(CP) - Brock Trotter is having an outstanding season with the Denver Pioneers in bouncing back from the Achilles tendon tear that ruined his initial season of U.S. college hockey.
The native of Brandon, Man., has seven goals and 13 assists for second place in team scoring after 18 games.
The Pioneers travel north for two games against Alaska-Anchorage in WCHA play this weekend.
Denver's lineup features 11 NHL draft picks, including three Edmonton Oilers prospects.
George Gwozdecky is the only coach in NCAA hockey history to win U.S. titles as a player, assistant coach and head coach. The native of Thunder Bay, Ont., coached the Pioneers to back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005. He won one as a player for Wisconsin in 1978, and he was assistant coach on Michigan State's 1986 title team.
