Default RiverKings Meet Colorado Tonight

The Mississippi RiverKings return to the DeSoto Civic Center tonight and face Northern Conference leader Colorado Eagles in a 7:05 PM game. Mississippi looks to continue what is now a seven-game winning streak and if it can continue to eight, get within two points of the Eagles at the top of the conference standings, possibly within two points of the league's overall number one spot, now held by Colorado and Texas.

Tonight's game is the first meeting since the RiverKings swept the Eagles in Colorado on February 13th and 14th. Mississippi has won three of the four previous meetings between the teams.

Colorado coach Kevin McClelland returns to the Mid-South, joining the Eagles over the summer after leaving the RiverKings bench at the end of last season.

Records: Mississippi is 36-14-3 for 75 points in first place in the Northeast Division. Colorado is 37-12-3 for 79 points for first place in the Northwest Division.

Series Records: Mississippi has clinched the season series against the Eagles with a 3-1-0 record for six points. Colorado is 1-3-0 for two points against the RiverKings.

Recent Action: Mississippi defeated the Blazers 5-4 in overtime last night at Oklahoma City. Colorado claimed a 2-1 decision at Bossier-Shreveport last evening.

Playoff Picture: Mississippi is currently second in the Northern Conference playoff ladder, while Colorado is first. Mississippi, Bossier-Shreveport, and Oklahoma City have clinched playoff spots along with Colorado. The Eagles can clinch the division title in the Northwest with just one point won or Rapid City point lost. In addition, Rocky Mountain can claim the final playoff spot with a win or Rapid City regulation time loss. In the Southern Conference, Odessa and Texas have earned spots. Currently Laredo and Rio Grande Valley are in the third and fourth position. But only four points separate Arizona (50), Corpus Christi (49), and New Mexico (46), battling for the final playoff berth.

Next Up...the RiverKings return to the road with a trip Tuesday night to Bossier-Shreveport, the first of six remaining games against the Mudbugs. Game time is 7:05 PM from the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, LA. The RiverKings' next home games are March 13th and 14th against Bossier-Shreveport.

Broadcasts: RiverKings hockey games are heard in the Mid-South and around the world on "The Voice of the Fan," Sports 56, WHBQ-AM and www.sports56whbq.com. Veteran hockey broadcaster and RiverKings media coordinator Bob Bakken provides the play-by-play coverage on Sports 56 and also on CHL-TV. "Never Miss another Away Game" with the CHL-TV link found on the team web site at www.riverkings.com. Games not broadcast on Sports 56 due to other programming commitments are heard on fellow Flinn Broadcasting station 96.1 "The Pig," WIVG-FM.

Tickets: RiverKings season and group tickets, fundraiser programs, and more are available by contacting the RiverKings' front office at 662-342-1755 or by e-mail at tickets@riverkings.com. New season ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are now available for sale through the RiverKings offices or by calling the front office. Single game tickets for RiverKings hockey are available through the DeSoto Civic Center box office, or by contacting Ticketmaster.
