Rumors in several places have it that the Blackhawks have been scouting the Sabres the past few games prior to the All Star break to take a better look at Brian Campbell. It's no secret that "Soupy" is unhappy that the Sabres were very slow to extend his contract during the season, and has recently broken off talks until after the season.

So what could happen here, if they were to trade for him, they would still need to sign him for next year, or would it simply be a rent a player for the rest of the year. If they were to trade, what would they give up??
