Default Owner Wirtz Dies at 77
Confirmed by TSN.ca Bill Wirtz long time owner of the Chicago Blackhawks has died at 77 years old.

Not too far off what I was thinking.

It's nothing short of a crime (well, in the sports world, anyway) what happened to that organization under his watch. Ordinarily, you couldn't drive away so many fans if you made a concerted effort.

Supposedly the team is staying in the family, and home games will be televised next season.


I don't know how any players like Savard or Mikita could have a nice word to say about this guy. Maybe TSN should've interviewed Jeremey Roenick and Tony Amonte.

On that last post I would like to say that Dallas owes their Stanley Cup to Bill Wirtz for being a cheap son of a bitch to an elite goaltender.

The players must like it to, with the way they are playing so far this year. And Havlat isn't even in the lineup right now.

I think, sad as it is to say, this is the best thing that could have happened to Chicago.
