Vandermeer suspended for high stick

Jim Vandermeer became the second player in as many days to be suspended for a late penalty.
The NHL suspended the Chicago Blackhawks defenceman two games without pay on Saturday for high sticking Vancouver Canucks left wing Daniel Sedin on Friday night.
Vandermeer committed the violation with 1:26 remaining in the Blackhawks' eventual 5-4 shootout loss. He will forfeit $5,816.32, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund, and sit out Chicago's game against Dallas on Sunday and Tuesday at Columbus.
On Friday, the NHL suspended Philadelphia Flyers left wing Donald Brashear one game without pay for instigating a late altercation with New York Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis on Thursday night.
