The
Chicago Tribune is reporting that Adrian Aucoin will finally be returning to the Hawks lineup on Thursday night against Nashville. I, for one, look forward to seeing Aucoin return after missing nine games with this groin injury, and while he played Sunday, not being that strong.
For the first splash signing of the new NHL, to have the guy you wanted to anchor the D out so much is frustrating, but a part of the game. Thusfar, four of the Hawks dmen this year have been rookies. Even with the Bulin wall... thats rough. A fifth is Vandermeer, who had only played in seventy-some games before this year.
Already Aucoin has missed as many games this year as he did his last three.
Notes from the article -
Quote:
Blackhawks coach Trent Yawney is hoping to "nip" defenseman Adrian Aucoin's groin injury before it becomes too serious.
But considering Aucoin missed his ninth game Tuesday when the Hawks lost to the Carolina Hurricanes, how much the injury has been "nipped" is open to interpretation.
Aucoin played 22 minutes 43 seconds Sunday in Atlanta after missing the previous two games, but he was sore afterward and didn't practice Monday or skate Tuesday morning.

"I've had groin problems forever, so it's seldom when I haven't had any pain or stiffness," Aucoin said. "But if the muscle is pulled, you can't skate. It's not a matter of pain, it's a matter of moving your legs."

Given the inexperience - don't forget, Vorobiev and Rene Bourque are also rookies - the teams play has been frustrating, but encouraging. Maybe good things really are coming.
