The Blackhawks haven't had a pure No.1 center since the days of Jeremy Roenick, and the Chicago Tribune reports Hawks GM Dale Tallon is in the midst of searching for one.
After trying the likes of Alexei Zhamnov and Doug Gilmour, the Hawks now have Tyler Arnason filling the void, but head coach Trent Yawney said last weekend that Arnason probably is better served as a No. 2 center.
According to the Tribune, Yawney and Tallon believe Tuomo Ruutu can fill the No. 1 center role and Roenick's shoes, at least on the ice, however he's out indefinitely with a back injury.
It has recently been suggested that the Blackhawks might have interested in Doug Weight of the St. Louis Blues, although it's uncertain how willing the Blues would be in trading the 34-year-old to a team within their our division.
