Default Who should be the Hawks' captain?

I took this survey off the Chicago Blackhawks' web site (www.chicagoblackhawks.com) and I thought it was quite interesting... They've picked up a few veterans with leadership qualities, but isn't there someone already there capable of carying the torch?

Nobody the Hawks suck. They should just move to Calgary so that we'd have two teams to beat :haha:

Kyle Calder. The rest are either too green or too new or too laid back. Calder gives it everything he's got and maybe he can lead that bunch to a playoff spot. But I doubt it...

I know that Ruutu is only in his second year, but I think he'll eventually end up being the captain in Chicago. With the team they have, they might as well give it to him now, and see what happens. That being said, they'll probably go with somebody with more experience, like Daze. Bell could eventually be a good candidate as well if he finds some consistency to his game.

I like when teams give the captaincy to hard working, in-your-face type players. Bob Gainey was a great captain in Montreal. Not very vocal, but what respect this guy commanded...

Daze would be a bad choice I think. He's not much of a leader and doesn't always show up every night. Ruttuu will be a great player I agree but giving him too much too soon is a typical Hawk weakness since they're usually very thin on talent. That's the problem with Daze. Too much too soon and he never realized his full potential.

Let Rutuu get used to life over here and in the NHL. With Calder you know what you're getting and he's mature enough to take control. I pity whoever gets it. It's going to be another long season in Chicago.

maybe i'm a nutjob, but i'd go with Barnaby, it would be for only 1 or 2 years.. he's got leadership qualities, a tough, gritty guy who shows up to work every shift.
plus, this would pass time while necessarily watching Ruutu mature, to see if he will fulfill his potential (which he will)......just my opinions.
