1) As much as I hate it, Wirtz is not going away. He owns half of the Stadium, all of the parking lots, and owns the companies that supply the concession stands.
Not to mention the liquor businesses all around. So as much as I like the idea of "getting rid of Wirtz" - it t'ain't happenin.
2) Wirtz' main point and desire for the cap is that it will level the field. He (and Pulford, and I am sure Son-in-law Dale) believe the Hawks have been unable to contend because others have outspent them. True to an extent, but the Hawks have done it to themselves.
Whether or not it will help them, I don't know. Pulford has not proven to me he can do mid-level acquisitions - go out and find the value guy for $200k that will play like a $800k guy. And in the future, I think that will be key, much like it is in the NFL to find role players who will play big, for cheap.
3) Hawks fans will come back. I still see coats, hats, jerseys throughout town. Once the team puts something competitive on the ice and does not intentionally try to alienate us by trading all of our favorite players for Russian pieces of sh*t who take virtually the same contract that JR wanted, only to have that Russkie PoS play like sh*t for the next several years at an every inflating salary, then to turn around and trade HIM for dickall where he can then line UP with JR alongside, of all freaking people, Tony FREAKING Amonte... and YES I AM A LITTLE BIT [edited to say PEEVED] OFF RIGHT NOW!
The fans will come back. Quit playing Euro Ice Skating and play Hawk Hockey like the days of yore, they'll be there. Chicago is still the city of broad shoulders, and football and hockey should be king - if the owners would let them.
