Poor Chicago, what few fans you have, I extend my sympathy.
Not only are you the team suffering the longest current Stanley Cup drought but until this post you were also the team forum here on HF going the longest time without a post. It was Oct 12, 2004 when last someone posted here.
So here's to you Chicago, if you're still out there.
Daddy was a cop
On the East Side of Chicago
Back in the USA
Back in the bad old days
In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still
When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
Against the forces of the law
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed
And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old East Side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died
There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
'Bout a hundred cops are dead
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed
Then there was no sound at all
But the clock up on the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my momma's face
Then brushed her tears away
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be
I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed
The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be
Hey guys thanks for the sympathy.
Ive been a Chicago Fan since the day I can remember watching hockey.
We have had some good years. My best memory... 91-92 Stanley Cup Finals.
Since then we've said goodbye to JR, Belfour, Chelios, Amonte and hello to bums like Zhamnov.
Dont worry we'll be back!!!
I have faith in the future of our team.
We have a lot of good young players:
Arnason, Ruutu, Calder, Bell, Vandermeer
And Draft Picks:
Brent Seabrook, Cam Barker, Colin Fraser, Dave Bolland, Anton Babchuk just to name a few. Give it some time.
And as for the longest time without a post... Ill make sure that doesnt happen again.

Now if you can only prevent the rumours of Brian Burke running your team from happening, you are shooin for turn around team of the decade.

Are you saying that having Brian Burke running the team is a bad thing??
Yes, why do you think he was given a pink slip in Vancouver? He did not perform and his act wore thin. He was absolutely awful in his drafts and most of his trades. The financial end of things were being handeled by Dave Cobb and Dave Nonis and Steve Tambellini were taking on more and more of the day to day hockey operations - Burke was becoming an expensive ornament.
Brian Burke is a great GM - just ask him and he will tell you. The problem is if you look critically at his record that just is not true.

It looks like a pretty dangerous lineup and if that guy Wirtz can pull his head out of his a** and run this team properly the glory can be returned to Chicago.
