Blackhawks beat reporter Chris Kuc weighs in on rumors about possible team moves.
It's been an eventful summer for the Blackhawks and general manager Dale Tallon.
The Hawks used their first-ever No. 1 overall selection in the NHL's entry draft on Patrick Kane, signed veteran free agents Robert Lang and Yanic Perreault, traded for veterans Sergei Samsonov and Kevyn Adams and extended coach Denis Savard's contract, among other fine tuning.
Being the GM for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in four seasons means having to always keep your eyes open to possible improvements. However, Hawks fans can stop holding their breath if they expect that any big announcements are looming. Tallon seems content with the team he has assembled for training camp, which begins Sept. 13.
Despite rumors on the Internet and in publications, Tallon said he hadn't "talked to anyone" recently about potential free agents or trades.
So no Pavel Kubina?
"Nope."
Danny Markov?
"Nope."
Tony Amonte?
"Nope."
