Mike Vernon was a goalie for the Calgary Flames from 1985 to 1994. And, then returned to Calgary in 2000 and retired in 2002.

Flames

Named after the famous fire of Atlanta started by General William Sherman in 1864 destroying the southren city of Atlanta, wich was considered the begining of the end of the Civil War. When the team moved to Calgary a fan poll suggested they keep the name for the city's oil indusustry.

To date the Flames have only made the Stanley Cup Finals 3 times. 1986, 1989 and 2004
