The hit merits a penalty, maybe a 5 for the rest of the game but nothing more IMO
I agree that his teammate should of dropped the gloves more aggressively but Rivet is old school and knows to defend his actions.
Going "hommagawd this is so horrible" like a menopausal mommy doesn't really serve anything but to make it seem like he went after the guy with a chainsaw. It's really getting tiresome this alarmist attitude, back in the day they woulda just called up 5 enforcers the next time they played the sharks and fans woulda been calling for that anyways, now it's all about being "nice and respectful" to each other and "there's no place for these things" and all that bull crap.
Trust me if this was the old NHL Rivet first of all wouldn't even of thought about boarding Morrow for the simple fact that he would of "gotten it back" and if he did he WOULD of gotten it back and every other players in the league would learn from HIS mistake.
The bucks these guys are paid they have more then enough in the bank to get by while serve a suspension (vacation). But a closed eye for two weeks really sticks in your mind.
