I agree, it does leave quite a hole if guys like Aucoin and Warrener can't stay healthy, but I also see where Sutter was coming from. He wanted Giordano to sign a 2-way contract so he could have more options. And I also can't blame Giordano for leaving, but hopefully next year we can bring him back.
